Summer in Prague is far from over, but the first days of September are already bringing an atmosphere that suits the city exceptionally well. Warm evenings give way to pleasantly cooler mornings, gardens and parks begin to change colour, and Prague’s cultural calendar offers one great reason to visit after another.
The turn of summer and autumn is one of the best times to experience Prague at its finest, with a glass of Czech wine, while discovering architecture and history, during evening walks in search of light art, and in the comfort of a five-star hotel right in the city centre.

The Art Nouveau Palace autumn offer is available for new bookings made between 7 September and 19 October 2026 inclusive. When you book directly through our official website, by email or by phone, you can save up to 35% on non-refundable stays of two nights or more. Prague’s cultural calendar offers an exceptionally varied programme at the turn of summer and autumn. We have selected four events that let you experience Prague from a different perspective each time… from the royal setting of Prague Castle and the neighbourhood atmosphere of Vinohrady to historic spaces that are normally inaccessible and spectacular light installations in the city centre.
Royal Garden, Prague Castle
On the first weekend of September, 5 and 6 September 2026, the Royal Garden hosts the traditional Wine Harvest at Prague Castle. You can look forward to a selection of wines from Czech and Moravian wineries, the popular burčák, and the chance to combine wine tasting with a walk through one of Europe’s most beautiful castle complexes. The programme is complemented by high-quality Czech food from dozens of producers awarded the KLASA and Regional Food labels. The atmosphere in the Summer Ball Game Court area will be enhanced by the old-Prague band Frajeři z galerky and the Sudovjan cimbalom ensemble. Admission to the event is free; a tasting glass is charged separately. It is a wonderful opportunity to say goodbye to summer in style – with a glass of wine and Prague Castle in the background.

Jiřího z Poděbrad Square, 130 00 Vinohrady, Prague 3
A week later, on 11–12 September 2026, the wine celebrations move to Jiřího z Poděbrad Square. The 30th anniversary edition of the Vinohrady Wine Festival returns after two years to its traditional, newly revitalised square and promises a relaxed neighbourhood atmosphere. Visitors will be able to taste wines from Czech and Moravian wineries, burčák, as well as white, red and rosé wines. Good food, music and meeting people naturally belong with wine – which is exactly why this event is ideal for guests who want to discover Prague beyond its best-known tourist settings. The square, dominated by the iconic Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord, also creates a unique backdrop for a relaxed September afternoon. Admission is free.

Prague – various locations in the city centre
September is also the month of European Heritage Days, when fascinating monuments, buildings and spaces open to the public – including places that are normally partially or completely inaccessible. The programme runs throughout the month at various locations and offers a great opportunity to discover familiar Prague in an entirely new way. It typically includes lectures, concerts, city celebrations, competitions and other cultural events.

Prague 1 also traditionally takes part in the event, opening different interesting buildings and spaces each year – often just a pleasant walk from Art Nouveau Palace for our guests. Most participating monuments can be visited free of charge on selected days, or for a low admission fee. If architecture, history and places with a story appeal to you, this is one of the best autumn opportunities to get quite literally beneath the surface of Prague.

From 15 to 18 October 2026, Prague will once again light up for four evenings thanks to Signal Festival, the Czech Republic’s largest showcase of digital and creative culture. Historic façades, squares, streets and lesser-known corners will be transformed into projection surfaces and artistic installations by Czech and international creators. The festival combines light design, video mapping, interactive digital art and modern technology with the cityscapes you know from daytime walks.

For 2026, installations and programme are planned in Prague’s city centre, including areas around the Clementinum, Franciscan Garden, Ovocný trh, Wenceslas Square, Old Town Square and Republic Square. The core outdoor programme is generally free to access, while selected indoor installations are part of the paid Signal INSIDE zone.
