XIVe siècle
Les deux rues au coin desquelles se trouve l'hôtel font partie des artères principales d'une des première villes européennes, construite selon un plan urbanistique, et elles existaient déjà en 1348 lorsque le roi Charles IV fonda la Nouvelle-Ville de Prague. La zone où se trouve l'hôtel Art Nouveau Palace a servi d'inspiration a de nombreux artistes. On en retrouve mention dans les œuvres de grands auteurs tels que Carl Maria von Weber, Rainer Maria Rilke ou Franz Kafka. Vous ne trouverez aucun autre hôtel à Prague qui puisse se targuer d'un bâtiment au passé aussi riche.
La première mention du terrain où se trouve l'hôtel remonte à 1378. On sait que se trouvait à cet emplacement une résidence du roi Venceslas IV.
